American Sailing Association Certified Instructor and U.S. Coast Guard Captain Dale Noe provides sailing classes and charters throughout the year. Whether you're the skipper or crew, Dale's unique wit and easy-going style will flatten the learning curve and quickly make the ocean your second home. We offer the Basic Keel Boat and the Basic Coastal Cruising Certifications the the Sail Boat Shop at Lake Pleasant. Classes are offered a Lake Pleasant, San Diego, and New Mexico. Other private classes and charters are also available. CoursesThis entry level class will give you the basics to be able to sail a boat 20 to 25 feet in length in light winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory Standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required. The class covers on the water safety, terminology, rules of the road, knots, how to rig a sailboat, man over board and general seamanship. When signing up you will receive a packet with Gary Jobson's "Sailing Fundamentals", Federal Safety regulations and your ASA log book.
This class will give you the ability to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary sailboat of 25 to 35 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions. The class covers terminology, proper gear and equipment, on the water safety, weather, seamanship, problem solving and chart reading.
