Specialty Diver
PADI AWARE –FISH IDENTIFICATION DIVER
Course Objective:
Learn how to identify common fish families and species found in temperate and tropical waters. Learn basic fish identification and scientific survey techniques as well as the importance of personal involvement in aquatic conservation.
Requirements:
· Minimum age 10 years old
· PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water
Diver or equivalent certification from another organization
Time Requirement: 2 hrs class room (review of self-study-read Course material)
Minimum Open Water Training: two dives over one day
Course Materials: PADI Adventures in Diving Manual, Project Aware materials
Course Goals:
During your course you will practice basic fish identification techniques and collect data
For submission to the REEF Fish Survey Project. The course includes area orientation
and:
· Information on Project Aware and aquatic protection worldwide
· Characteristics of local fish families and species
· Fish survey techniques and strategies
· Fish identification dive planning, organization, and procedures
Specialty Recognition: Certification card, Patch, and Certificate. Specialty certification qualifies for Master Scuba Diver.
Your Adventures in Diving Altitude Dive counts towards your Specialty certification.
